Our services

Over time lay people became more involved in the management of Moore Abbey and St. Mary’s Delvin.
In 2000 work started on creating a structure to secure the long term future of our services for the intellectually disabled.
An interim advisory board was created comprising of Sisters and lay people with both the skills and experience to build on our work.
The completion of this project took place at the beginning of 2012 when our services were formally handed over to the Muiriosa Foundation Limited, a company limited by guarantee with charitable status.
A Sister still chairs the Muiriosa Foundation board but all the other directors are now lay people; two of our Sisters also continue to serve in pastoral care.
Governance of our services is now firmly in the hands of a board of directors who share our values and aspirations to provide the best possible care for people with intellectual disabilities.
